Victory at Facebook - all cleaners reinstated

We are pleased to say we received an email on Thursday evening from Bidvest Noonan oinforming us of their decision not to proceed with their restructuring plans.

This means that all the affected cleaners will revert to their previous roles with terms and conditions unaffected.

Sincerere thanks to all who supported the cleaners in any way, however small. Your contribution was vital to this amazing success.

Lies, Damned Lies and Redundancies

Confusion is mounting over Facebook’s claim that none of its London cleaners’ jobs are at risk.

Up to fifteen cleaners at Facebook’s London offices are facing the threat of redundancy.

This is in direct conflict with Facebook’s public statement that the company “will pay contingent workers that cannot work due to reduced staffing requirements during voluntary work from home, when we close an office, when we choose to send an employee home, or when they are sick”.

Noonan Bidvest spreads confusion over Facebook redundancy threat

Bidvest Noonan has further confused the situation around its recent threat of cleaning redundancies at Facebook London.

Over the last few weeks, the facilities company has been conducting consultations with cleaners as part of what it describes as a restructuring process which has placed up to 15 cleaning jobs at risk. They say the restructuring is necessary as a result of the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Facebook Cleaners Face Redundancy

Fifteen cleaners at Facebook’s flagship London offices are facing redundancy.

The night shift cleaners, employed by facilities contractor Noonan Bidvest, have been advised their positions are at immediate risk as a result of restructuring. Noonan Bidvest says this is necessary due to the Covid-19 pandemic — at a time when most organisations are recognising the need for more leaning rather than less.

Facebook & To Go Micro Kitchens: Giving with one hand, taking with the other

Catering services at Facebook’s London HQ in Rathbone Square are provided by a company called To Go Micro Kitchens.

To Go provides instant drinks and snacks out of machines and fridges maintained by a number of workers who ran a successful London Living Wage campaign in February 2019.

Since then, the workers have been victimised, bullied, threatened with dismissal, and had their workloads increased.

Now they have had enough of being bullied and victimised for standing up for their rights.
