Virgo Fidelis cleaners to strike for their jobs

Cleaners employed by Zing Environments at the Virgo Fidelis Convent Senior School are striking on February 6th in an attempt to save their jobs.

Since taking over the school’s cleaning contract in August last year, Zing has announced it wants to get rid of two or three of the nine cleaners, who currently earn just the minimum wage rate of £7.83 per hour. Zing has tried to buy the workers off with wage increases, but they are refusing the offer. They’re determined to fight for their jobs and for the London Living Wage.

They’re going on strike on February 6th, and they need your support. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Support the strike
Come and protest with the cleaners on Feb 6th between 1pm and 5pm. Virgo Fidelis School, 147 Central Hill, Upper Norwood, SE19 1RS

  2. Write to ZING
Write and tell them you support the cleaners. Send your emails direct to the CEO, Jolanta Wayling: jwayling@zingclean.co.uk. Why not write to the school itself as well, at office@virgofidelis.org.uk

  3. Donate
You can donate to the Virgo Fidelis campaign fund here or by clicking the button below

Thanks for your support!
